Island Head began as a dream shared by two brothers who grew up on the water and always envisioned building something of their own. In 2013, that dream became reality when Michael and Taylor launched Island Head with just one parasail boat, a lot of determination, and a commitment to creating unforgettable experiences on the water.

At the time, both were working in the watersports industry, learning every aspect of the business from the ground up. But they knew they wanted more — the chance to build a company shaped by their values, work ethic, and vision for exceptional guest experiences. So they took a leap, invested everything into that single boat, and Island Head was born.

From day one, the focus was simple: offer the best possible experience and let the business grow naturally from there. As demand increased, they reinvested in new vessels, added more activities, and steadily expanded into new locations.

But like most entrepreneurial journeys, the road wasn’t always smooth. Early on, Island Head was unexpectedly forced out of its original marina — a moment that nearly ended the business. A pending sale fell through, and Michael and Taylor suddenly had to relocate and rebuild from scratch. What could have been a breaking point instead became a defining chapter. That challenge strengthened their resolve, refined their vision, and set the foundation for the growth that followed.

Today, Island Head has evolved into a multi-location operation with a fleet of more than 20 boats offering nearly every kind of on-water experience — parasailing, tubing, water skiing, dolphin tours, sunset sails, private charters, dinner cruises, and a daily ferry service to Daufuskie Island. In recent years, the brothers expanded further with the launch of Island Head Rentals, a hospitality-driven property management company representing homes and villas across Hilton Head Island.

Now, Island Head is proud to expand again — this time into Savannah. Island Head Savannah brings the same passion, service, and family-driven spirit to a new waterfront community, offering private charters, port tours, sunset cruises, and more. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a new way to experience the Lowcountry, Michael and Taylor’s mission remains the same:

None of this would have been possible without the people who believed in them along the way — supportive partners, visionary marina owners, trusted mechanics, financial partners who took a chance on their ideas, and a loyal team that grew alongside them.
